Scyphozoa | Soft and Fluffy
Cells are the smallest fundamental unit of life made up of nucleus, cytoplasm and cell membrane. Some specialized cells have other developed organelles (Parts of a cell). Like "Golgi apparatus "...…..............
With about 10,000 discovered species jelly fish (95% water), these organisms are translucent because of mesoglea. It is a common tissue present in cnidarians (some corals, jelly fish etc) and is a hydrostatic skeletal support for the organism. These creatures live in about all types of aquatic habitats and at very different depts like moon jellyfish in shallow waters and Atolla jellyfish in deep waters, about some hundred feet deep. Jelly fish is just an upside down plastic cover with some deadly tentacles.
The top main part of jellyfish (yellow in the picture) is called "Bell" and has long tentacles when touched stings you. These tentacles have nematocysts cells which sting when there is temperature and pressure fluctuation. These cells have specialized and special Golgi apparatus which produce coiled and folded thread with a spike at it's end. When it is activated the membrane breaks off and water rushes in taking up space and straightening the folded and coiled thread and the ejecting the spike forward with force. The activation is triggered by touch, or changing concentration of water (Like hypotonic and hypertonic). Once poked it injects venom (not in all species).
