The Weirdos | Stargazers | Nightmare of the Oceans

These are the underwater nightmares lurking buried in sand waiting for unsuspecting prey to be victim of it's 150 Millisecond suction bite.

Uranoscopidae, the stargazers of 8 genera with one extinct species are found from Shallow to deep sea salt waters.
They have Bristles attached to the walls of their inner mouth which filter out sand from it's prey and prevent them from consuming the dirt, much like the blue whales (with a different purpose). They mastered camouflage.

Stargazers are ambush hunters and venomous. They dig themselves in sand with their specially evolved shovel like fins and just gaze waiting for they their prey to swim by, hence the "Stargazers". They have extremely quick bites and also venomous almost cancelling the chances of survival of it's victims.

** "The Venom of stargazers contains a potent of toxins", including various types of neurotoxins and muscle toxins. These toxins can cause a range of harmful effects if they come into contact with humans or other animals. **

They have bony spikes on their back and electro plaques behind their eyes. These electro - plaques help them stun their target with up to 50 volts of electric charge. These electro plaques act as capacitors and are polarized stacked and flattened muscle cells. They are only used to scare off predators, competitors and even to find out their mates !!!

They have been known to live for 5-6 years in the wild, growing up to 56cm ( with average length of 20-46 cm). These fish also have one of the fastest recorded bites of the animal kingdom at 150 Millisecond a bite. Their faces are suited for their life with Upward facing eyes and large a mouth.
